Event type:
Saturday, 10 March, 2018

DNNI in association with Cork NeuroScience Centre will be hosting a public outreach event on Sat 10th March (1-4pm) on Dementia and Neurodegeneration. Experts from UCC will be raising awareness of the causes and symptoms of dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease and explaining the latest research into how these conditions can be treated and managed.

The event will take place in UCC's Western Gateway Building, Western Road, Cork.

The event will feature interactive stands that explore brain anatomy, visualise the brain using MRI scans, experience everyday life with dementia using virtual reality sets, and showcase research by UCC’s postgraduate students. UCC’s scientists and clinicians will give short presentations on the causes, symptoms and treatments of dementia and neurodegenerative disease, as well as updates on research highlights. Representatives from patient organisations will provide useful information and contacts for anyone with an interest in dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease or Parkinson’s Disease. There will also be interactive sessions on music and brain health featuring the Ukuladies, and physiotherapist-led fun lessons on how to increase movement in everyday life.
